POLLED & HORNED
We established our Highland Stud in the 1980s and have the largest herd in NZ.
Our numbers peaked at 700. With the numbers we were lucky to Bred a variety of Polled Highlands and we are developing this hairy Breed especially for Beef. The unique Scottish Highland breed are lovely looking, friendly, placid, easy calving, are good mothers and quickly become part of the family.
Being one of the oldest, hardiest cattle breeds there is, with their great foraging ability and longevity, they suit organic farming with a very high natural immunity
to parasites and disease.
Scottish Highlands are the best choice for marginal, rough country and perform well anywhere in New Zealand. They are small animals and easily handled.
Highlands have a long, thick, hairy coat. Colours can be black, brindle, dark brown, red, tan, yellow, dun, creamy and white with a full range of shades in-between. Pelts are valuable and the beef is lower in fat and cholesterol and higher in protein and iron than other beef. (Scottish University Study)
They look wonderful in the paddock with their widespread majestic horns or alternatively we have Polled Highlanders for easier transport and beef breeding.
We have a large number of certified, registered, purebred & fullblood and also polled Highlands available each year.

Please let us know as early as possible if you wish to purchase some, we can offer a discount for quantity. (e.g. 10% off for 5)
We can book you in for calves with a 30% deposit, to guarantee you’ll get the one you want after weaning. We calve in the Spring and the Summer.
Calves, Heifers, mated Heifers and Cows, also Bulls and Steers are available. Pure grade are generally the most popular.
Transport is easily arranged to anywhere in New Zealand, even Northland and we have exported a group to Japan.
